Soccer Rules

One of my friends who may or may not be related to the Sports Desk at a major national daily newspaper sent me this e-mail the other day:

At the meeting today, somebody talked about how the US soccer team was
playing with only 9 players on Saturday. I had no idea the team played
Saturday, that having only 9 players was bad, or even how many players
are usually on a team.

Nice going Mr. Important Sports editor. You might want to brush up on the most popular team sport in the world since I think they're having a World Series or something right now.
